Prasanth hails from the village of Ammaiyappan in Tamil Nadu. He comes from a poor agricultural family. His father, Rajendran, is a farm laborer and earns about Rs. 9,600 ($200) per month. He has two younger brothers who are still in school. Since his family income did not allow him to go in for higher studies, Prasanth joined the Padma Vocation Centre to learn Electrical Trade.
