G. Karunakaran is the son of Mr.Ganesan, a farmer coolie and Ms.G.Kannamal, a home maker. He has a sister studying in 9th standard and a brother studying in 10th standard. He is from Thiyagaperumanallur village in Tiruvarur district. Currently, his family income is just 12000 rupees (260 dollars) per year. The training in welding that Padma Industrial School provides will allow Karunakaran to support his family and add to their income.
