Mahendran will soon become a skilled welder

Mahendu
Dear Stacy, Matt & Alison, Ramesh, Tim and Sherie, and John,

Thank you for coming together to enable R. Mahendran to learn the welding trade and become a qualified mechanic.

R.Mahendran is a resident of Kodavasal village in coastal Tamil Nadu, India. His father, Ravi, is a farm laborer, and his mother, Amutha, is a home maker. He has a younger sister who is studying in grade 10. His father earns about Rs. 12,000 ( $ 240) per annum, which is barely sufficient to meet the needs of the family.

Mahendran would, in the normal course of events, have become an unskilled laborer like his father and spent his entire life at the edge of poverty. Your donation, however, gives him the opportunity to enroll in a year long welding course at the Padma Vocational Training Centre in Manjukudi, Tamil Nadu. On graduating, he can either join a construction firm as a welder, or set up his own business, and with the money that he earns, he is confident of putting his sister through high school and college.
